Pro Football Hall of Fame World Youth Championship

Q & A Time with National Director Marc Boldurian

Q: Can you tell our readers a little about the Pro Football Hall of Fame World Youth Championship?
A: In 2017, the Pro Football Hall of Fame World Youth Championship launched the largest youth football event ever created in the history of football. Complete with a “National Watch and Rankings List” designed by former NFL executives and top college scouts, this world-class platform features 12 regional playoffs located around the country, appearances by Hall of Famers and a world championship broadcast on national television at the Pro Football Hall of Fame world-class National Youth Football & Sports Complex, the new “home” for youth football. This championship event will settle the debate about who is the best — grade by grade, team by team, state by state and region by region!

Q: Marc as the National Director of the World Youth Championship what does your position entail?

A: The National Director is responsible for overseeing the strategic plan of the organization, scouting teams, international relations, and networking with the venues where we host our games. Other key duties include sponsorship, marketing, and community outreach.

Q: What is the most rewarding aspect of your position?
A: The most rewarding part of my job is to offer teams and players from all over the globe an opportunity to be part of something that not only validates their hard work and efforts throughout the season, but to give them the memories of a lifetime. A lot of kids from inner city and small-town America never get to travel outside their region to play football and see how they measure up against the best teams in the country. It’s amazing to see them compete at the highest level and connect with a diverse set of teams so they can experience a wider variety of cultures than they would be able to at home. I enjoy helping young athletes realize their true worth and the importance of achieving goals. At the same time to reshape youth sports, one player, one coach, one team at a time is incredibly rewarding and actually life-changing. There’s nothing I would rather be doing.

Q: You are bringing the Bay Area Regional Championship to Placer Valley over Thanksgiving weekend, can you tell us more about the tournament?
A: Throughout the 12 Regions, our goal is to host 300 teams including a few dozen international teams. We have 4 different divisions under the World Youth Championship brand: All-Star, Travel, League-Unweighted, and League-Weighted. All-Star division is comprised of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade teams. Travel division is for age groups 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 14 (all are unlimited weight). League-Unweighted division is for age groups 7 up to 14 years old and League-Weighted divisions.

Q: Why should fans come watch the games?
A:
The celebration of youth football brings together fans and teams from all over the world not only to crown a World Champion, but to recognize the accomplishments of players, teams, coaches, and communities. The World Youth Championship provides a unique atmosphere to reinforce the core values that football instills in players as we aspire to help shape the lives of our youth today.

Q: Finally, how does partnering with Placer Valley Tourism help elevate your event?
A:
Placer Valley Tourism’s core values of teamwork, integrity, passion, vision, and work ethic are shared by the World Youth Championship staff. Aligning with Placer Valley Tourism is a strategic move. We are confident it will help us deliver a world class event.
